Engineering Clerk

Location: Scobey, MT

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ability to track, prioritize and schedule Work Orders projects within system tools to assist with coordinating and tracking engineering work order activities between departments.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, ESRI, Visio and Excel Spreadsheets to post as built outside plant facilities records.
  • Understanding of customer location port assignments, splitters, frames and distribution panels to manage facilities connectivity.
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate telecommunications network information to technicians for support of network facilities installation, trouble shooting, and maintenance.
  • Ability to organize and archive staking sheets, maps and other records to support network operations.
  • Assist with facilitating cut sheets records to identify facility assignments for POTS, broadband and special access for various ongoing projects.
  • Assist with auditing work order project warehouse material auditing and staging for construction and technician installation.
  • Respond to correspondence concerning communications outside plant network inquires as necessary.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must possess knowledge of all aspects of outside plant facilities. Maintain confidentiality of Cooperative records when required.
  • Ability to use sound judgment and initiative to accomplish job duties in a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate orally and write in a clear and straightforward manner.
  • Possess PC skills and software knowledge of AutoCAD, Visio, and Microsoft Office Suite with a background in computerized mapping and/or design drafting.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time, prioritize and organize effectively with limited supervision.
  • Possess strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage time and workload effectively which includes planning, organizing, and prioritizing with attention to details.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license, having a good driving record and be insured under the Company’s insurance policy.


Any combination equivalent to the following education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would qualify.  A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be: a degree Engineering or Telecommunications field or job experience with documented performance. 

 Physical Demands

  • Sits at desk most of working day.
  • Stands and walks short distances in office.
  • Walking up to one mile in rough terrain
  • Handles books, papers, and office equipment.
  • May be required to lift and carry weights up to 25 pounds.

 Special Demands

  • May require irregular hours.
